About us

Experience, commitment and a qualified team

Over 50 years weaving stories.

At Hilaturas Jesús Rubio, we have been spinning stories for over 50 years. Run by the second generation of the family, we manufacture and spin both flat-knit and knitted fabrics, 100% wool and blended yarns, natural fibres, animal fibres, plant fibres (cotton, linen, jute, pineapple, etc.), synthetic and artificial fibres (viscose, Tencel).

yarn-manufacturing

At Hilaturas Jesús Rubio, we have successfully implemented a circular production process based on the revaluation of post-consumer textile waste from selective collection containers managed by Formació i Treball. (Retexcat Project).

This waste, which would normally end up as refuse, undergoes a process of sorting, defibration and mixing with pre-consumer wool to produce a high-quality regenerated yarn suitable for sustainable fashion and home textiles. Each batch produced is unique, adapted to the availability and characteristics of the raw material.

Positive impacts of the practice

Reduction of textile waste: recovery of post-consumer waste.
Used fabrics are reused, preventing them from ending up in landfill or incineration. According to the European Environment Agency, this is one of the methods with the lowest environmental impact.

Saving natural resources: lower consumption of water, energy and virgin materials.
According to the WWF, the use of existing material directly reduces water and energy consumption compared to conventional textile production.

Production of exclusive batches: each batch is unique and adds value to capsule collections.
The variability of the recovered material allows for the creation of limited editions with greater perceived value.

Social inclusion: we work in collaboration with third sector organisations.
Collaboration with social organisations generates employment and promotes the integration of at-risk groups into the labour market.

Other complementary best practices

Partnerships with sustainable designers and brands.

Collaboration with Sylvia Calvo BCN. Development of the Re-Yut-Cel project, which reuses jute coffee sacks to create sustainable fashion garments, recognised with the Green Product Award Fashion 2023.

In 2022, an agreement was established, still in force, with the Ripollès Shepherds’ Association, made up of 14 shepherds, for the purchase of wool and thus make a product that is 100% Ripollès wool, that is, a local product, close to home and part of the circular economy.

GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certification. Guaranteed traceability and sustainability in production processes, ensuring the use of recycled materials and responsible practices.

RWS certificate. Commitment to environmental responsibility and animal welfare throughout the entire wool production process.

Hilaturas Rubio’s circularity project is not isolated. It is social, industrial and environmental, and seeks to raise awareness and promote communication. Active participation in circular economy networks and initiatives, as well as projects funded by European and regional programmes.

Zero waste manufacturing processes. During the production process, every effort is made to recover as much waste as possible. This waste is then reused in the same production process or in a new one.

Sustainability. Using waste from other companies minimizes waste and therefore reduces environmental impact.

Traceability and quality control. Comprehensive monitoring of material traceability and implementation of quality control processes to ensure sustainability and efficiency in production.

Industrial symbiosis. Constant collaboration, sharing knowledge and experiences to promote sustainable practices in the textile industry.

We work with single batches, depending on the type of waste and colour available. Each thread is unique. Each colour comes from a story.

This enables complete traceability, from the original waste to the finished yarn.

The true value of a product lies in its quality, its origin and the meaning it conveys.
