According to the Ellen MacArthur Institute, the textile industry is responsible for 8% of the world’s toxic waste and 20% of the world’s emissions of glowing greenhouse gases.

In addition, 85% of garments end up in landfills or incinerators within a year of purchase.

The circular fashion movement seeks to address these problems by reducing the amount of clothing produced, improving production processes to reduce their environmental impact, and encouraging more sustainable consumption habits. This includes reusing, repairing, recycling, and renting clothes.

Slow fashion

One way in which the circular fashion industry is trying to reduce the amount of clothing produced is by promoting “slow fashion”, which emphasises quality over quantity. The term “slow fashion” refers to garments that are well-made, durable, and easy to repair, as opposed to low-quality garments that are quickly discarded.

Sustainable materials

Another way in which circular fashion seeks to lessen its environmental impact is through the use of sustainable materials and procedures. This includes the use of organic materials, recycled materials like regenerated yarns, or alternatives to algae, as well as reducing the use of chemicals and energy during production.

In conclusion, circular fashion aims to maximize the use of resources while minimizing the environmental impact in the design, production, and consumption of clothing and accessories.

Circular fashion can help reduce the environmental impact of the textile sector and prolong the useful life of clothing by promoting “slow fashion”, using sustainable materials and processes, and encouraging more sustainable consumption practices.

In addition, adopting circular fashion practices can economically benefit both businesses and consumers. It is essential that businesses, consumers, and governments work together to promote and adopt circular fashion practices for a more sustainable future.

The term “circular fashion” refers to a philosophy of design, production, and consumption of clothing and accessories. Rather than adhering […]

[1,15,25

post-446","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-actualidad","category-actualitat","category-curiosities
["GET
